We offer
We offer you a dynamic and exciting job in a library environment where no day is like the other. If you are passionate about providing good service, you now have the chance to give our visitors a positive experience and make a difference every day. As a library host, you will receive a solid introduction over 1–2 weeks to ensure you feel secure in your job. The introduction includes an overview of the Stockholm City Library's operations and the library system Cicero. You will also accompany a mentor at the library where you will be working. You will be paid during the introduction.
Your role
As a library host, you focus on our visitors by supporting, guiding, and serving them with their questions. You are the one staffing the information desk and welcoming our visitors at the entrance to guide them correctly in the library. You are there to provide a positive, accommodating, and professional response. You assist with everything from simple IT questions to book loans and ensure that everyone receives the help they need. IT questions may involve how to use digital tools like computers and mobile phones, internet search engines, and printing documents. In addition, you will work with practical tasks, such as shelving books and keeping the library in top condition.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- completed high school education
- good knowledge of Swedish both spoken and written
- several years of experience in service roles supporting/guiding/helping people or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer
- basic IT skills (digital tools such as mobile phones and computers, internet search engines, document printing, etc.) to help our visitors with simple matters in a pedagogical way.
It is meritorious to have:
- experience working in libraries and/or museums
- additional language skills (besides Swedish).
Your personal skills and abilities
You feel comfortable using and working with digital tools such as computers and mobile phones and using internet search engines. You have a strong service focus and greet both visitors and colleagues with warmth and kindness. You are proactive and self-driven, handling varying tasks and situations with confidence. You enjoy taking responsibility and see every challenge as an opportunity to solve problems and improve the experience for our visitors. Your communicative and pedagogical skills are a great asset as you meet people from all backgrounds and with different needs. In stressful periods, you remain calm and act professionally. You are creative and development-oriented, always aiming to enhance the experience for our visitors. An interest in literature is a significant advantage.
